How to Remember Your Wedding Prep

At Sound Cake, we spend our weekends witnessing the "final production," but we know the real magic happens in the months leading up to the "I do." That’s why we encourage every bride to keep a wedding journal—but with a twist.

Don't write your entries like a dry news report of vendors booked and checks mailed. Instead, write in feature-style. Don’t just record what happened; capture how it felt. Instead of "We picked the flowers today," try describing the scent of the peonies or the way your fiancé looked when he saw you in your veil for the first time.

Feature writing focuses on the atmosphere, the humor in the hiccups, and the small, quiet moments that a news lead would miss.

Years from now, you won't care about the logistics of your big day—you’ll want to remember the butterflies you felt while the playlist was being finalized. Also, when your kids ask how you prepped for your wedding and want to lend a thought...or 10...you'll be ready!
